The English weather can't be trusted. It's a pretty well known fact. In winter - cold and wet. In summer - slightly less cold and about as wet. We need some kind of summer in our lives, so it's just as well that THQ and HB Studios Multimedia have brought Big Beach Sports to the Wii to introduce a spot of summer to our lives.

The action plays out on a luscious tropical island, where players can take part in volleyball, soccer, American football, boules, disc golf and cricket playing using a host of cartoony avatars.

The game is controlled using just the Wii Remote. Swing across your chest as you would with a real frisbee for disc golf, slam the ball down with over-arm gestures for beach volleyball or wield the Remote as you would a cricket bat. The controls fit intuitively with how you'd the real life sports.

Players can make their way through the game in single-player mode or (and this is where the real fun is) battle it out with up to three other players in multi-player mode.

Who needs to get onto Shipwrecked when you've got a Wii in your front room?

Big Brain Academy (BBA) offers a number of difficulty levels and five brain-bending categories such as Mind Marathon and Mind Sprint that test the participant's brain power in areas including maths, logic, memory and analysis. Yep, rather than being a mere player, you are a participant, as BBA isn't really a game as such. Upon starting the game, new Academicals are invited to enroll using their own Mii. Dr Lobe (a talking brain lobe complete with spectacles, 'tache and a mortar board hat) will keep you up to speed with how well - or how badly - you are progressing at the academy.

Initially, the first test checks how big your brain is by measuring you in 15 activities that span five mental categories. You'll not only see your brain size, but you'll also receive a grade based on your performance. Alternatively, Practice sessions are a great way to improve your skills in specific activities. In Mind Sprint, two teams race to answer a set number of problems first. Using one Wii remote, one relay team of up to four players can compete against a student record book. Using two remotes, two teams of up to four people can compete. In Mental Marathon, any number between one and eight can strive to keep a winning streak going for as long as possible within a certain time limit. Once time runs out, or someone fails to solve a problem correctly, the marathon ends. The Brain Quiz is a party-style experience that spans the five mental categories, several difficulty levels, and adds five activities, making a total of 20. Up to eight players can divide themselves into four teams.

Big Brain Academy for Wii allows budding brainboxes to send and receive record books with friends who also own a copy of Big Brain Academy for Wii using WiiConnect24. Oh, and did we mention the talking Wii Remote function?

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance journalist on a hunt for the scoop of a lifetime. Frank escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety but it turns out to be anything but. It will be a true struggle to survive the endless stream of enemies, but players will have full reign of a realistic shopping centre and its varied stores offering an endless supply of real and makeshift weapons to fight off the flesh-hungry mob. If Frank is running low on health he can pay a visit to one of the many restaurants or cafes and restore his energy by chowing down on some tasty mall food.

The game is split into a series of individual cases, all of which Frank must complete in order to gain vital information that will allow him to piece together the truth behind the horrendous epidemic. In addition to the cases, players will be faced with the dilemma of deciding the rescue priority of the residents of Wilamette who also sought sanctuary in the mall. First, Koei brought us the Dynasty Warriors series, Then, spinning out of that, we got the Samurai Warriors series. Now, spinning it a bit further, we've got Samurai Warriors: Katana for the Wii, Koei's latest excursion into the Feudal East.

Players are dropped into the Feudal era of Japan. There, they must engage in all manner of activities, ranging from fending off pirates as they attack your ship, to rescuing damsel types from a burning castle, to heading underground to stalk around caverns filled with deadly ninja.

The game rolls out from a third person viewpoint, putting your sword (well, katana, to be specific) firmly in your hand. There are eight different weapons in total (including your trusty blade) to get to grips with, including the spear and war hammer for the up close and mucky stuff, and a bow and arrow, a gun and a cannon for when you're doing your dirty work from a distance.

Koei promises 30 hours of gameplay for you to get your teeth into. Included in that are 'Musou Mode' (or story mode, if you prefer), trial mode in which gold can be earned to get yourself some upgrades, and Vs mode, complete with eight mini games.
